So I was doing my happy dance, like I do every Friday. I rounded the corner daydreaming about what I was going to do this weekend, opened my car door, and all of a sudden a really sharp pain went shooting through my upper arm, you know, right below the pit. IT.HURT.BAD! I.screamed.LOUD! I reached over with my right hand to try and figure out what was going on, and when I lifted up my shirt sleeve a bee came flying out. It was black, it was big, and I could of sworn it had two fangs and a little cape on, well maybe not the cape. I swatted that bee so hard I think I knocked its head through its stinger. Serves him right. That's what he gets for trying to mess with my weekend - PUNK!
Note the fangs.
I wasn't lying, I told you I thought it was a vampire, and here's your proof.
Has anyone/anything tried to ruin your weekend before it even got started?
Things I'm thankful for today:
An awesome backhand - that's right - I've got mad skills.

16 Days and Counting
Well the countdown has started. Only 16 days until Alexxa leaves for college. Lexx and I are busy trying to get loose ends tied up and figure out what she needs. Exciting and nerve wracking at the same time.
What I'm thankful for today:
Spending time with Lexx and Aust
Having great responsible kids
Having kids that are adults (no early mornings and only on occasion, tantrums ;P)

Success
The other night I had a nightmare. I dreamt I woke up in the middle of the night, went to raid the fridge, and there was this...
Scary!
What could motivate you more than a fridge monster? So, that evening I changed out of my work clothes, sat on my bed, and had an argument with myself. It went a little like this:
Motivated me: Get your tennies on and let's get going.
Lazy me: I don't want to!
Motivated me: Sure you do!
Lazy me: No, I really don't.
Motivated me: Come on, how hard is it to get up and walk out the door.
Lazy me: Very. Bed feels soooo good. I love bed.
Motivated me: It's just one of those thing that you HAVE to do and may not like. Put it in the category of, no one likes to go to work, no one likes to do dishes, no one likes to clean toilets, but these are things that have to be done.
Lazy me: Fine! I'll go but I'm not going to like it. If I injure myself I am going to blame it all on you and not exercise again for another 10 years.
So off I went (along with Alexxa and Todd - Austin was at work). We decided to go to Northside and while Todd and Alexxa did soccer workouts, I walked the track. Not too far, maybe a mile or so, but I wasn't sitting at home doing nothing. Don't believe me, here is proof.
See, I was really walking.
The track.
The moon starting to rise.
In other news, the debate is still on as to whether Northside School aerated their field, or was attacked by a swarm of geese. You decide.
Quite a few feathers.
Does dirt usually turn white?
What I'm thankful for today:
Ice packs and motrin
Warm showers
Massages

Marshmallow Me
As you know, the fam and I spent part of our summer vacation in Oregon at my parent's house. While there we took family portraits (not professional - obviously). After we returned home and I was browsing through the pictures, I noticed a resemblance. See what you think.
Awesome - I even smile like him!
After seeing the pics I thought maybe it's time for a diet. I started one Monday...it lasted until noon. I'm so depressed, I think I'll go get a cookie :P
Things I'm thankful for today:
Stretch denim
A husband who loves me just the way I am

What a Genius
Alexxa had Freshman orientation at CSUMB yesterday, so we didn't get back home until late. We managed to pick up the mail before dragging ourselves into the house. When we got inside and looked through the mail, the results of Todd's EIT (Engineer In Training) were there. After taking the test Todd was absolutely sure that he bombed it because he felt he didn't know several answers and he just came away feeling like a dunce. Well...he passed! Yay for my little genius husband. Mr. Smarty pants. Good job honey, we are very proud :)
Things I'm thankful for:
A husband that's a genius
That I can cheat off of him if I have to take any kind of test
The fact that, mostly, my test taking days are over

Thursday, really
Ya, ya, I know it's been a couple of days since I posted, but I haven't been home until after 9 PM two nights in a row. As much as I love you guys, I'm not posting when I'm half asleep. Well, maybe I would if I could sleep in the next day or maybe if I had insomnia.
Anywho, I have a couple of pictures that made me smile from our trip. One is Austin showing his light saber skills, another is Alexxa showing her card playing skills, and the last is Todd showing us his barbecuing skills.
Well, I have to skidaddle because I have to get ready to go to Monterey with Lexx for her freshman orientation...you know...laundry to do, clothes to pack, yada yada yada.
Catchya later. Over and out, yo.
Things I'm thankful for today:
Things that make me laugh
The cropping tool for my photos so I can chop off half my body and make myself half the size :P
Bright orange nail polish on my toes

Family Vacation
We managed to drive through three states in six hours and arrived home last night exhausted. The family has spent the last four days at my mom and dad's new place in Oregon. My mom, dad, sister and her family, brother and his sons, and grandma all met up there to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. Also while we were up there, Todd turned 41, so we had double fun. I didn't take many pictures of the vacation because we decided to take family portraits since all of us haven't been together in one room for at least five years.
It was nice to be able and catch up and visit. But, as most of us know, it's just as nice to come home and relax.
Things I'm thankful for today:
Family
My own bed
Spending time with Austin, Alexxa and Todd
Having family vacation time

Well Hello There
Todd and I are back from our little minication. Last May my parents gave Todd a gift certificate to the Wharfmaster Inn in Point Arena, as well as one to the Phoenix Restaurant. It has taken quite a while, but we were finally able to get away and enjoy his graduation gift. Can I tell you...it was amazing. Point Arena, the town, is not very spectacular...a little run down and a pretty typical coastal town. However, if you make a right, driving north, before you ever enter the town, it leads to this wonderful little pier, shops and the Wharfmaster Inn.
The pictures above are of the actual Inn, and the Phoenix. Todd and I stuffed ourselves, and the above pictures are of our Caesar Salad, Todd's steak and potatoes, and a Lavendar Sundae *nom, nom, nom*.
I am going to have to split this post up into a couple of different days as I don't want it to be too picture heavy.
It was beautiful, relaxing, and just what we needed to rejuvenate from our hectic work schedules. It was also nice to see how the other half lives :)
Thanks mom and dad!
What I'm thankful for today:
Todd graduating
Me being able to benefit from Todd graduating
Being able to spend time with Todd celebrating

Preventive vs Preventative
When I read my previous post, I noticed that the picture said preventive and not preventative underneath it. Both can be used, however preventive is generally used to define an abstract concept and preventative is applied to an actual object. Whatev.
On a different note, I found this pictures of floating cats (or are they legless?). Isn't it oddly fascinating. Mmm hmmm, that's what I thought you would say. I am not weird!
What I'm thankful for today:
Canned soup
Shopping with my better half

On A Different Note...
We received a phone call on Monday from Austin. He was in Cool and his car broke down near the quarry. He said he was driving, and then all of a sudden he couldn't turn, brake or accelerate. Todd and I took this opportunity to stop by American River Pizza and get some dinner, and then headed off to see what was wrong with his car. Todd popped the hood, looked at the engine...everything looked fine. He jumped behind the wheel and started the car right up. We think that his car overheated and then stalled making it difficult to drive. Who knows. Everything seems fine for the time, thank goodness.
Things I'm thankful for today:
Vehicles that work
Weather under 90 degrees
A good laugh
