The fam all had last Saturday off so we decided to head
out to Tahoe for a quick little getaway.
We knew the weather might be sketchy, and it was.
We made it to Tahoe no problem and had lunch at our
favorite little restaurant there, The Brewery.
As usual, the food was fantastic, but I thought it was
odd that my 6' 1"ish son only ordered a sandwich
(More details to come on that later).
After lunch we decided to go to Emerald Bay and try and see
the waterfall and walk on the little boardwalk.
FAIL!
See the sign?
Oh you don't - that's because it's buried under 4' of snow.
Plans- Scrapped!
So we turned around and decided to go back to Tahoe and go to the beach.
Not a bad plan except while we were driving,
we noticed that Austin had been exceptionally quiet and tired.
Austin sleeping on his little sister's shoulder.
Actually, Austin wasn't the only one who was tired.
Loki decided to take a little nap also.
When we arrived at the lake, we woke Austin up
and he informed us that he wasn't feeling well, and in fact,
had thrown up the night before.
Wait -
Wha?
Was I just confined to a small space for 3 hours
next to someone who most likely had the flu?
Yep.
So being the kind and understanding parents that we
are, we left Austin in the car and went and took some pictures.
Yes, Thor was as thrilled as he looks.
He did NOT like the snow.
Todd and Lexx were looking for a restroom and took
Thor with them. They just so happened to walk in
about a foot of snow and Thor stopped dead in
his tracks, like a little frozen puppy, and refused to move.
Although, you can't blame a guy -
you might do the same thing if your manly goods
were stuck in a foot of snow.
After we got a few pictures we decided to see
what was happening at the little shopping area.
I believe it's the Heavenly shopping center,
but I'm probably wrong.
Look how thrilled Austin was to be taking a picture in the snow.
How cute - it's a snow parade!
One of the little parade guys hit on Lexx and tried to get
her to join in on the parade with him, but being her
father's daughter, she quickly informed him that we
were leaving -
Party pooper!
We visited a few adorable shops
and if you can believe it, I didn't buy anything.
My thoughtful hubby, however, did surprise
me with a wonderful gift
(I will do a post of its own for this).
We decided to get dinner before going home,
and Thor could not be more thrilled to be leaving Tahoe.
Thor asking, "Are we home yet?"
Look at those clouds starting to pile up.
Can you try smiling Aust?
Was Jack Frost nipping at your nose?
Cause he sure was nipping at Thor's.
This is what you get when you ask Austin to smile.
I like to call this, the thinker and the stinker.
Todd getting a kick out of our goofy kids.
We had a great time
(except maybe Austin).
It was a nice little trip before the new year,
and before the flu bug ravaged our house.
Thanks Honey for a good time!
