Friday

Impressed?
Don't be!
This is what I didn't do today, or for that fact,
any other day in the past......
say 20 years.

Feel free to attempt it though.
Be sure and take video so that I can enjoy
it while I eat my hot fudge sundae.

I have some fun plans for this weekend!
What about you?

Have a great weekend!

More Garden Grow Boxes

When I left off yesterday, I showed you the little chart
that was provided to make your garden fool proof
(Hopefully, we'll cross our fingers).

After we had decided what we planted where,
Todd got super busy.

You take potting soil and put it in the two holes.

Todd and I went to a local nursery and purchased
this organic potting soil.
It is awesome, but man is it stinky!

We filled the planter half full and then moistened it with water.

We then filled the planter the entire way up and sprayed it.

You then take the Garden patch with little nutrient patches attached,
moisten them and then put them on top of the soil.

Garden patch going on top of the soil.

We then cut lines through the numbers and the line
where the vegetables were being placed.

After the plants are planted, we then took little green soil pins
and poked them through the Garden patch and in the soil.

The last step was to fill the reservoir up so you don't
have to worry about watering your little garden every day.

It took about 1 1/2 - 2 hours to complete,
but we are loving it so far.

I will be sure to keep you updated as the plants grow.
Here's hoping it works...
cause if it doesn't
I give up!

Third Times a Charm

So Todd and I haven't been to successful with the
whole gardening thing.
We were talking about giving it one more try before
 throwing in the towel.
We know that we have to do a couple things better to be successful
at this entire gardening thing.
1.  Have garden in eyesight.
We're pretty much out of sight, out of mind people.
2.  Automatic watering.
3.  Control the whole critter thing.
Deer, moles and bugs had a field day eating last years garden.

We started talking to Todd's parent about our plans,
and Todd's mom mentioned that she was thinking about
purchasing grow boxes.
She had done some research and thought that the
Grow Box was a possible option.

It was decided that we would go in together and
get a few boxes to try our hand, and so the order was placed.

Fast forward to a couple weeks later, and look what arrived.
Todd got busy assembling the boxes,
and I have to tell you it couldn't be easier.

First, you have to pop the little rectangles so they fold down.

Here is what the bottom looks like.

You then place the top portion on top of the bottom portion.

Next, move your planter to where a nice sunny place
that is within view.

Here's what our set up looked like before we put
soil and plants in the box.

I placed the veggies I wanted to go in each box right in
front of the planter that it was going in.

Grow Box provides a planting guide as to
 almost make it fool proof.

Tomorrow, I'll show pics of how the little garden
actually turned out.
I just didn't want to picture overload you.

Pineapple Angel Food Cake

Okay...I may have lied to you.
You know how I told you about the cookie cake recipe,
and how it was the easiest recipe in the world -
Ya...well I found an easier one (which I didn't think was possible).

There are two ingredients:
1.  crushed pineapple 20 oz can
2.  angle food cake mix

You take the cake mix and pour it in a bowl.
You then take the pineapple and pour it on top of the cake mix.

Like this.

Then you just follow the directions on the box.

I took my mixer and mixed on low for 30 seconds,
then I mixed for 1 minute on high.

It makes this really frothy bubbly concoction.

See how FLUFFY!

You can kind of see the little pieces of pineapple in this picture.

I poured the ingredients in a 9 x 13 baking dish.
Cooked at 350 for 30 minutes and ...
Ta da

Look how yummy!

I put low fat whipped cream on my piece,
Todd added crushed strawberries to his.
I have to say,
it really is pretty good for a super cheap recipe.
Definitely give it a try,
and if you hate it you'll only be out about $3.

Oh by the way, supposedly you can use cherries with this recipe.
I was to chicken to try them the first batch,
but I have them sitting on my counter just waiting for the next cake!

Busy Weekend

I am going to be busy this weekend.
Lunch plans, hair appointment, movie (maybe?),
I can't wait to get this party started.

Have a great weekend...
and stay out of trouble!

My Little Spiderwort

I have the prettiest little plant growing at my house.
I bought it a few years ago for Todd for some reason...
Father's day, 4th of July, who knows.
It has grown and grown and looks so colorful.
I love this plant because it takes very little care,
and the plant looks like you have fussed over it.
What is it you ask?

When I researched the plant, I found that it
has medical attributes -
win, win!
It is used for "female" problems, a laxative, and when the leaves
are crushed, they can be used for insect bites and stings.
Who knew we had natures pharmacy right in our back yard.

Ohhhhh......pretty.

I Wish....

I were here.
Only two more days 'til the weekend.
I can do it!
