Thrift Store Clothing Haul

My sweet children visited us this weekend,
so I took the opportunity to make Lexx model
some of my thrift store finds I have collected
over the past month.

First up was this cream colored sweater from Forever 21.
I paid $6.19, and although I couldn't find the exact
sweater online to compare it with,
I found this similar one for $24.90.
Savings of $18.71!

Wouldn't this sweater look adorable
with leggings and knee high boots.

BTW, we left the tags on so you could see the actual prices.

The next two items I found were a
tank top from LC - Lauren Conrad - $5.19,
and a pair of denim shorts from Jones New York - $5.19.
I couldn't find the exact tank or shorts,
but this similar shirt cost $20.00
Savings of $14.81.
Similar shorts $40.00
Saving of $34.81

And the final items I purchased were a
dress from Forever 21 for $7.19
and Born leather cork wedges for $12.20.
Lexx is needing an outfit for graduation,
and we had no luck finding anything at Macys.
When I saw this at Goodwill I couldn't pass it up.

As in all of the items above, I couldn't find the exact item,
but a similar dress at Forever 21 cost $34.90.
Saving of $27.71.
The similar shoes (minus the flower) $100.00.
Savings of $87.80.

Lexx and I are super excited to style these outfits,
especially the graduation one.

I'll have to post pictures so you can see
how beautiful Lexx can look without spending
a small fortune, or large fortune,
depending on where she shops.

So here is the breakdown of cost:

Money spent:  $ 35.96
Cost of clothes new (approx):  $219.80
Difference (approx):  $183.84

Not bad for just weekend thrifting!

So do you have any treasures that you've
found at the thrift store?

The Never Ending Project

The McComb household has a never ending project .
About 4 years ago Todd ripped up our floor,
and blasted a hole in the wall in hopes of remodeling our bathroom.
So there the hole and the subfloor have sat,
unattended to, just waiting for someone to give it some love.

Two years ago I had on my wish list to complete the
bathroom before Thanksgiving.
Last year I had on my wish list to complete the
bathroom before Thanksgiving.
Then a miracle happened...
piece by piece
Todd has completed portions of the bathroom.

He's been at it for about a month,
but he only really works on it on the weekends.
So he's probably worked on it a total of eight days.
Here's what he has completed so far.

Tub, insert, light, shower head & faucet = done.

Walls painted = done.
Sink, mirror, light and cabinet = need to be done.

Door and flooring = need to be done.
Of note, I have two projects to accomplish in this bathroom.
I have accomplished none.
I am, however, currently working on one of them
(blog post to follow).

And because I know you're dying to see
the hallway view, here you go.
Don't say I never do anything for you.

So there you have it.
Our never ending project.
Can't wait to show you the final results.

Wining and Dining

Not gonna lie,
Todd and I had a fabulous little pre Easter day trip.
We decided to visit one of our favorite little towns, Sutter's Creek.
We had to start our day off with some sustenance,
so we decided to have breakfast at
The Purple Place.
We had never had the opportunity to eat there,
and thought we would jump on the chance since
a) it was on our way to Sutter Creek.
b) the color of the building intrigued us.

We had a lovely late breakfast,
and loaded up on carbs because we
knew that we would be wine tasting and
wanted something to absorb all that alcohol in our tummies.

We ended up arriving in Sutter's Creek around noon,
and we immediately went to our favorite little shop,

Todd and I love to window shop their showroom
and pretend like we can afford to buy everything
we like in this awesome little store.

They have awesome displays that just make
you want to spend your life savings on nothing but furniture.
After Todd made me wipe the drool from my face
and leave Water Street Antiques,
we headed through town to see
what type of wine we could find.

We ended up starting our wine tasting adventures at

When we entered, we had every intention of just wine tasting,
but as you entered, on the right side of the building....

BREAD!
Olive oil!
Vinegar!
We couldn't resist...
it was like a vortex...
a vortex of everything that is good and right.

There were several samples of olive oil.
Some were jalapeno, some were garlic, some were basil
(you get the picture, right!).
They also had flavored vinegars.
Did I mention they also had wine?
Of course I didn't get any pictures of the wine tasting
because I was way to busy tasting wine!
Can you blame a girl
(that's rhetorical...don't answer that).
So one bottle of basil olive oil, one bottle of pomegranate vinegar,
and two bottles of wine later we ended up leaving.

We didn't make it very far though because I saw
this sign on the sidewalk and knew that this
was going to be the next
spot we wine tasted.

Cinque pulled us in.

They had cute little signs with clever
little sayings and we couldn't resist.
We ended up buying six bottles from Cinque.
I told Todd we had to hurry and leave
town before we went into debt buying wine.

We reluctantly headed back to the car around 3-4 PM,
8 bottles of wine, 1 bottle of olive oil, 1 bottle of vinegar,
and did I mention 3 blocks of cheese, later.

Before we reached the car, we made a quick jaunt to the
I must say they had lovely, and delicious,
artisanal cheeses available.
I can't remember the exact type of cheeses we purchased,
because we ate them already.
I can tell you they were super yummy.

We ended our day there, and decided to head back home
where I can tell you we enjoyed some of our days purchases.

So did you do anything unconventional for Easter weekend?

Spring Break Happs

The kids had the week before Easter off for Spring Break,
so Todd and I couldn't do much/go anywhere with them this year
because stinking work got in the way!
Stinking adulting!

We did manage to get some good quality family time in.
We ate dinners together, and visited a couple of family members,
but other than that it was really low key.
I took a few pictures of some of the highlights.

We added some new "kids" to the family.
Austin and Alexxa helped take care of them
(code for spoil them).

Lexx had to have some pictures taken for a project
that she needs to take care of, so we took an
afternoon and snapped away.
I'll show you some of the photo results in a later post,
after Lexx has time to get her project in motion.

After the photo session,  Lexx and I visited
her aunt and uncle who are building their house.
Todd and Aust were already there helping them
with little projects here and there,
so the girl and I were basically there to supervise for a minute.

We had Easter dinner at our house..
I decided to go a little less traditional this year
and had ham, twice baked potatoes, green beans,
broccoli salad and deviled eggs.
It was super delish,
and we all ate more than we should have.

The Sunday that the kids left,
we went out to breakfast at our favorite restaurant
with the kids and Uncle Lynn.

I know the kids were in dire need of down time after midterms,
and Todd and I have been extremely busy with our jobs as well.
It was so nice to just be able to relax, catch up, and enjoy family.

Did you do anything special for Spring Break?
Or, are you like us and just vegged out for the week?
