More of Day 2 & Day 3 - The Ridge

After Todd and I had recuperated from our hike
and cleaned up a little bit, we decided to take
a drive around Lake Tahoe.

The weather was fabulous and there were so
so many Fall colors.
SO BEAUTIFUL!

We stopped at Eagle Falls to take some pictures.

It's a tiny little hike
(if you can even call it that).

When we finally got over to the falls,
after I slipped, fell and slid down a boulder,
we were a little disappointed with the trickle
that was supposed to be Eagle Falls.

We had been here before and the falls
were in full force.  Just not this day.
Note to self:  Don't visit any falls when
it is at the end of a very dry summer, and fall.

After we had had enough site seeing,
we decided it was time for dinner.
Todd was craving salad, and I was craving pizza.
Pizza and salad for dinner it was.

Yummy BBQ chicken pizza.

Todd enjoying our relaxing dinner.
Nobody was in the restaurant but us.

After dinner we headed back to the resort
and hit the spa.  I wanted to make sure my
muscles weren't aching the next day
(because of our hike).
We hung out for about an hour and then called it a night.

We woke up about 6:45 on Sunday and
watched the sunrise from our room.
It was beautiful.

After watching the sunrise, we packed our
things up and headed home.

Again, it was perfect weather and it was a perfect
end to our perfect little vacation.

And just for an FYI -
I was told it snowed 6 inches on Monday,
so we truly had perfect timing.

Day 2 - The Ridge

Because it was our mini-cation, Todd and I slept in a bit.
My cold disappeared and I felt fantastic,
so we grabbed a bite to eat for breakfast
and then decided to take a look around the resort.

This is the view as you approach the resort.

As you climb the hill towards the resort,
you can see several buildings
(the one on the rightish side was ours).

Outside our room the had an enclosed spa,

a sauna,

a BBQ area,

a little wedding area that has a spectacular view of the valley,

and then up the hill from us were the tennis courts.

We also took some pictures of the inside of the main lobby.

The Ridge was decorated beautifully.

As you walked through the main doors,
there was a water feature along with some plants.
I didn't get a good picture, but you get the idea.

After we got bored with looking around
(and we didn't even visit all the places they had to offer),
we decided to go on a hike.

The Ridge buts up right next to the Tahoe Rim Trail.
The Tahoe Rim Trail is 150 miles long -
so ya, we didn't do all of it.
I think we hiked about 5 miles,
Todd says more like 3,
felt like 15.

It was a moderate hike
(some might even say easy)
with a rocky little path in places,
and some uphill to contend with.

There was still some snow on the ground in places.
This made for a nice cool hike.
I have to say that I didn't complain of getting overheated once.
It was actually a perfect day.

Todd and I made a little hiker friend
and he took our picture together.
So for once, we don't have a selfie photo.
Yeah for making friends.

The views were spectacular,
and the landscape was just beautiful.
We couldn't have asked for a better time of year
to do this hike because Fall colors were everywhere.

The hike took about 2-3 hours
(ya we're slow)
and we arrived to our room exhausted and dirty.

However, we didn't let that slow us down.
We cleaned up and then headed out again.

Anniversary Trip - The Ridge

Todd and I were finally able to celebrate our
anniversary this past weekend.
We headed to Tahoe, but decided to switch things up a little.
We usually stay right along the strip,
but we wanted to try something different.
We left around noon and made a very important stop.

We detoured through Camino and stopped at Boa Vista Orchards.
They have amazing baked goods, and I had
been dreaming about their blackberry pie.
Boa Vista is in Apple Hill, so I figured because
it was a Friday it wouldn't be busy like last time we tried to go.
I was wrong.

This is the line for my pie.
Friday - at noon!
It took about 1/2 hour to finally place my order,
but it was well worth the wait.
Of course, I didn't only get pie, I had to also get
some apple donuts and a blackberry dumpling.
All were AH-MAY-ZING!

Me showing off my goodies.

After we stopped at Apple Hill for a minute,
we headed on up to Tahoe.
It was a beautiful day and that made for
an absolutely beautiful drive.

We arrived to The Ridge around 4 PM,
and quickly checked in and found our way to our room.
We were both very impressed with the facility.

As you walked in the door you immediately
saw a small kitchen.

To the left was a nice little sitting area and our bed.

This was the view looking the opposite direction.

It had a nice little bathroom with granite.

But, my most favorite thing in the entire room....

The sleep number bed.
I have never had the opportunity to try one out,
much less sleep on one, and let me tell you
Todd and I were impressed.

After we got settled, Todd and I decided to grab
some dinner, so we headed right down the road to
 The Fox and Hound.

It was a little bar that had some interesting food.
I ordered a BBQ chicken sandwich, and Todd ordered a PBEP.
What's that you ask...
a peanut butter, fried egg and pickle hamburger
(Yack!)

I couldn't believe that he ordered it,
much less ate it.

But, Todd said it tasted yummy and wanted to get
another one the next day.

After our interesting dinner we headed back to the room and
called it a night.  I had been fighting a cold
and wanted to be healthy for the next day.
We had plans, and I didn't want anything to get in the way.

Stop It!

In recognition Halloween, I thought it
only appropriate that I share this video.

Be sure to pay attention around 3:43.

Aren't you glad you're not saddled with Andy in
the event of an apocalyptic occurrence.

Get Some - Soccer That Is

Todd and I watched the niece and nephew play soccer this weekend.
It was AWESOME!
We forgot how nice it was to be out in the fresh air,
cheering on your family, being part of the "team"
(cheer team that is).

Unfortunately, both teams lost, but man did they look good playing.
Here are a couple of the highlights.
*Please forgive the blurry photos - I'm a little out of practice.

Brie plays on an under 13 girls select soccer team.

She got to play Goalie for half the game,

and forward for the other half.

She saved a goal in this picture.
Number 17 was really good,
but Brie managed to corral her out of the goal.

Way to go Brie.

Adam plays on an under 10 (or 11 or maybe 12) boys soccer team.

Adam took his warm ups seriously -
hands on hips and everything!

His team is coached by his dad.
They only had 9 players this game.

The played hard against the other team,

even though they had fancy Ed Grimly hairdos and everything.

Look, Adam kicked so hard it made the kid jump.
Can he get a What What!

Great job guys & gals.
We will have to plan on watching another game really soon.
Nothing like watching almost professionals play soccer.

Smile!

Ahhhh, it's the weekend!
It puts a smile on my face every time.

I'm excited because I think Todd and I are going
to watch a little soccer.
I miss it - lots.
Stinkin' Lexx had to grow up and stop playing.

Have a great Saturday & Sunday,
and I'll see you back here next week.

~Cheers~

Habitat for Humanity Restore

You know how we ended up not going to Apple Hill,
and then ended up in Amador County.
Well we stopped of at a Restore on our unplanned detour.

I've been wanting to visit one for about a year now, and I finally did it.
There were all sorts of little treasures to be found.
Basically, it was like a Goodwill, but specifically for home stuff.

I found a few things that I could have purchased,
but alas I was a good girl and left with nothing.
I did take some pictures so you could see if there was
anything that tickled your fancy.

I liked the light on the second shelf,
brass colored and to the right of the picture.
I thought if you took some ORB spray paint.

Those two red buckets are filled with doorknobs.

Look at the alley of sinks and toilets.
I'm not sure if I would get a used toilet,
but they had some very nice sinks.

I told Todd that I thought if you were building
a house on a budget, this would be a
great place to shop for supplies.
go and get supplies.

So what do you think, would you ever shop at a Restore?
If you have, did you find any treasures?
