You Might Be A Redneck If.....

This last weekend I was in the kitchen making dinner, that's right you read correctly...making dinner, and out the window I saw the strangest thing. I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

Alexxa driving the quad.

Oh wait, it's not just Alexxa, Todd's there too.

What the heck, he's standing on an I-beam dragging the driveway.
And that my friend is redneck driveway maintenance.

Do You Give Up?

So, I thought and thought about what type of bird Alexxa could be talking about. Crane...mostly white but has some black....no, penguin...not big and also not likely to see one in Roseville...no, pelican...usually near the ocean, right?...nope, geese...aren't they usually green and brown...negatory. I wracked my brain all day Saturday and I couldn't come up with an answer. Sunday rolls around, and again we head back down to Cherry Island for Alexxa's last soccer game, AND on the way guess what I saw in a yard...an ostrich. That's right, the flightless bird from Africa. That was the bird that Alexxa had seen. I think she should have emphasized BIG, as in human size or bigger, and sometimes they are more grey than white, but the mystery was solved. I think it is safe to say you don't have to worry about Lexx or I becoming ornithologists.

Things I am thankful for today:
Weekends when you do absolutely nothing

Your Best Guess?

Last weekend we traveled to Cherry Island where we watched Alexxa play her last competitive soccer game. Her first game was played at 8:30 AM on Saturday which meant we needed to be at the field at 7:30 AM. Most people who know Alexxa well, know that she is not a morning person, so almost the entire way down to the field she hardly said two words to me (Todd was taking his EIT test). All of a sudden, while driving past Roseville, she pipes up and asks me, "What is that bird? It's big. It's like black and white?" Remember, she is almost 18, so I'm looking for a little more detail than this. Again, it's morning, and that's all I get. Any idea what bird Alexxa was talking about? What's your best guess?
No giving it away if I already told you the answer!

What I'm thankful for today:

I decided to get the camera out the other day and take some pictures of all the beautiful flowers around the house. I just love this time of year. Does it get any better than this?

Here's TOES Weekends :)

So I made it through another work week, and to celebrate I am going to get myself a pedicure tomorrow. I'm super excited to do this because these dogs have been shoved in shoes all winter and they are needing a little extra TLC. Maybe if you're lucky I'll post a picture of my darling digits!

What I'm thankful for today:

Pity Party Is Over

I'm back and ready to attack the rest of the week. Sometimes you just have to wallow in self pity for a day and then get back to reality. I can check that off of my things to do now.

Things I'm thankful for today:
Prednisone - It's a miracle drug!

Some Bunny Loves You ;)

Another Easter has come and gone. We had a wonderful meal at my parent's house. My mom spent all morning preparing the meal and it was absolute awesomeness. It was a quiet get together with just my parents and the four of us. We enjoyed the meal and conversation, and before we knew it it was time to go home and prepare for the next day. I hope your Easter was as satisfying and lovely as ours.

On a totally different note, isn't the karate chop bunny just a cuteness explosion!

What I'm thankful for today:
The relationship between a mother and her daughter.
Laughing with my family.
Kids with great work ethics.

It's A Beautiful Life

I have been wanting to post for a week, but due to technical difficulties (our Internet service is dumb), today was the first time I have been able to. A week ago today, Todd and I decided to take the day to ourselves and we went on a little drive. Our morning started off in Placerville at the Buttercup Pantry where we had a delicious, and semi-nutritious breakfast. After stuffing our faces we headed off to Daffodil Hill where we walked, took pictures and enjoyed each others company. There were people of all ages, but one little girl in particular who had a blood curdling scream and used it when she didn't get her way. All Todd and I could say was...boy are we glad we don't have to deal with that anymore. After Daffodil Hill, we decided to visit Volcano. My dad's uncle, or my great uncle, used to own several acres out there (something like 100 acres), so we decided to see what the area looked like. It was a cute little historic town that reminded me of Coloma. After the quick jaunt to Volcano, we ended up in Sutter's Creek where we walked up and down the sidewalk and visited the cute little shops. We were busy until about 4 PM, when we decided that we were hungry and wanted to eat dinner. Todd and I ended the day in a little taqueria in Folsom, exhausted but thoroughly happy to have been able to spend an enjoyable day together. It doesn't get any better than that.

Things I'm thankful for today:
A wonderful husband who I adore.
Beautiful spring days.
Being able to spend time with the people I love.
