The Big 19

Well Austin turned 19 on Tuesday, and we could only do a quick celebration as everyone had stuff going on. Don't feel too sorry for him though because his Nana and Papa had a birthday party for him at their house, and his Grandmother and Grandy will be celebrating this coming Saturday. Anyways, we had a nice little dinner and enjoyed each others company. Austin is a little anxious about getting so close to 20, he said that it's almost like he's an adult, but we all know better hehehe.

Las Vegas Trip

Todd, Alexxa and I headed out to Las Vegas on Friday (poor Austin couldn't come because he had to work). It was a loooooonnnnnngggg drive. Tehachapi Pass was closed due to poor weather conditions, so we ended going up the Grapevine and over on 58. We made it to Las Vegas Saturday morning about 10:40 AM, and Alexxa played her first soccer game at 12:40 PM. No problem...we had two hours to spare. Alexxa's team ended up 1-1-2, a little disappointing, but the team had fun playing against Canada, Utah, Minnesota and Nebraska. Because we didn't make it to the finals, we were able to head back home Monday morning around 9:00 AM. So, around 11:30 AM, while still on the road, we get a call from Todd's mom telling us that there is a bad storm rolling in, and they may close down the passes....Oh geez! That can't happen because I have work the next morning, Todd has work and school, and Alexxa has school and soccer practice. So instead of stopping at IHOP to satisfy my pancake craving, we blasted through Barstow trying to beat the storm. 58 was closed this time, but Tehachapi happened to be open (the exact opposite of when we were driving there). We ended up making it home by 8:00 PM with no problems, and for those of you wondering, yes we did stop at IHOP....near Fresno....around 3:30 PM.

Snow Day

The weather around here has been interesting, to say the least. One week we are talking about drout and how if we don't get some rain California is going to be in for a long summer, then the next week it is storming and snowing. At any rate, I woke up on Friday morning and there was a dusting of snow. It was really beautiful, but a little concerning considering we were heading out to Las Vegas that morning. I got a couple of pics for proof, I just wish I could have stayed and enjoyed the snow.

She's Growing Up Fast

So Alexxa had her Winter Ball Dance today and I just happened to take some pictures. I thought you might enjoy seeing how much she has grown up.

It's hard to be clever at 1 in the morning

It is 1 AM, and I find myself awake, listening to Todd snoring. Why you ask? Well, the story begins like this...last Thursday Alexxa was at soccer practice. Towards the end of practice she headed the ball wrong, and wouldn't you know it, gave herself whiplash. She wakes up Friday, can't move and feels horrible. So, I take her to the doctor, doc gives her a neck brace and says don't do any physical activity for at least 3-5 days. No problem. So the family teases Alexxa mercilessly for two days and then Sunday rolls around. Todd wakes up and...yep, you guessed it..he cannot move his neck and is in excrutiating pain. I think wait a minute, Lexx has whiplash and that's not contagious...DUH! So it is now a week later and here I am in bed, I don't have neck problems, but I had a horrible headache and stomach ache. I think Alexxa's whiplash may have been whiplash and a little virus that attacks muscles. I'm no doctor, so it's hard to say, but seems like an awful coincidence that all of this happened within a week of each other. And for those of you who are wondering how Lexx and Todd are doing, they're still sore and not feeling 100%, but at least they don't look like they belong on the set of Night of the Living Dead.
