$10 Thrift Store Challenge Invite

So I've been seeing thrift store challenges
floating around the Internet, and it's got me interested.
Why?
Because I want to see if I can successfully decorate
a spot in my house for $10 or less,
and I like a challenge that involves shopping!

The guidelines are...
You have $10 to spend at a thrift store.
Find Spring inspired décor and decorate your house with it.
You may use belongings you already possess to help complete
whatever it is you decorate whether it be a tablescape,
a little nook area, wherever you want.
That's it.
No more rules/guidelines.
Just have fun with it.

If you want to join me in this challenge, feel free.
I would love to see how creative everyone gets.

I will share my creation on 3/18/16.
You are welcome to share your yours on that date as well.

I can't wait to see what you get!
Heck, I can't wait to see what I get!

Time to Get Back on Track

I had a wonderful four weeks hanging out with my family.
The kids came back home for Christmas Break,
and I fell off the wagon with my low carb diet.
No biggie!
Take a look at what we did the past four weeks.

As you know, I went wine tasting with Austin.
This picture above was taken at Hart2Hart Vineyard.

The next day, Alexxa accompanied me to Jose Wine Caves.
Lexx doesn't drink, so I was forced to do all the tasting.
I know,
poor me!

So there was wine tasting in the afternoon,
and a movie in the evening.

We HAD to go see the new Star Wars movie
at Studio Movie Grill.
It was a pretty good movie if you are in to Star Wars.

On Christmas Eve we went to our favorite
Chinese food restaurant, and enjoyed their
seafood buffet.  It was delicious, and different
from anything we have ever done before during the holidays.

The next day, Christmas, we started off the day at our house,
and then celebrated at my Father-in-law's house in the afternoon.
It was such a nice get together.
Fairly small, and very low key.

On Dec. 26th we drove to my parent's house in Oregon.
We spent a total of four very relaxing days there.

Like I posted previously,
there was lots of playing in the snow,

snowmobile riding, eating and sleeping.

When we returned home,
we celebrated New Years by falling asleep around 10 PM.
You have to start the new year off right,
and if I don't get my straight 8...
you don't even want to know what would happen.

Todd and I had to return to work,
and the kids helped do stuff around the house while we worked.
Our goats had some new babies,
so the kids dedicated lots of time to the other kids.
Austin and Todd helped Amber and Robb
on the house they're building.
Lexx and I visited thrift stores in search
of some appropriate work clothes that
she could wear to her Internship.
Before you know it,
it was the end of the kids winter break
and they were headed back to school.

Now the house is a little cleaner,
much more quiet, and way more boring.
I can say that the only positive is
that now I won't be carb loading like I'm
about to run a marathon.
I've already started to get my diet back on track
and eat like a normal adult.

It was a busy and wonderful past four weeks
Now I'm SUPER looking forward to Spring Break!

Are You a Billionaire?

I'm not.
I bought $10 worth of Powerball tickets.
So that is like 20 numbers....
I got 1 number.
Yep, that's how lucky I am.

So did you win anything?
Please tell me you're luckier than I am.

Star Wars Cuteness Explosion

My family is really down
with the Star Wars mania.
Since I'm the Jedi knight of my blog,
I thought I would "FORCE" you
(do you see what I did there?)
to see the cutest little
animals dressed in Star Wars outfits.

Winter Wonderland

Boy did we have a fantastic time at my
parent's house in Oregon this year.
It was a white day after Christmas!

We packed our bags, rented a mini van,
and drove the 7 hours to my parents on the 26th.
We arrived around 9 PM...
a little later than we had originally anticipated.
A few extra bathroom stops and a snow storm
slowed us down a bit, but it didn't dampen our spirits.

It was hard to tell exactly what the weather
conditions were because it was pitch black out.
We could see there was snow, and we knew it
was pretty cold out, but we just grabbed
our bags out of the van and headed inside
where my mom had dinner made, and
the house nice and warm.
After a little bit of visiting,
Todd, Austin, Lexx, Uncle Lynn and I
headed off to bed.

When we woke up the next morning,
we were shocked to see
there was about 3 feet of snow
(maybe even more).

My dad had purchased two snowmobiles last
year, and of course, it decided not to snow in 2014.
So everyone was excited to break them in this year.

While my dad got the snowmobiles ready,

with a little help from Shaz,

the rest of us got ready to go play in the snow.

Lynn wanted to take pictures in front of the snowmobiles,

so most of us obliged.
We ended up only being able to start one of the snowmobiles,

but that wasn't a problem because

we just used my parents quad  instead of the second snowmobile.
Because we only had two vehicles and seven people
some of us opted to go for a walk in the snow.

Lynn wanted to see the lake by my parents house
so I went on a walk with him.

My mom decided to join us shortly after,
and we had an awesome little walk.

The weather was overcast, but the sun was shining.
It made for some beautiful pictures.

The lake looked like a snow covered meadow.
Hard to believe there is water underneath there.
We spent the day riding around
and playing in the snow.
We played until it started to get dark
and really cold, and then spent the rest of
the evening watching TV and eating.

Monday there was a big storm,
and most of the guys ended up going to
Klammath Falls to get chains for the
mini van.  It snowed so much
that the van was basically stuck in a hole.

So what do you do when it's stormy out
and half of your crew goes to run errands?
Take pics (selfies)!

It ended up clearing up and being a beautiful evening,
but not until close to 4 PM.

We eventually ended up getting the van
out of the hole and on to flat ground.

This was a must, as we were leaving the next morning,
and if we couldn't move it...
we couldn't leave.

I couldn't believe that all five of us ended up
getting ready and out the door by 8 AM,
which was the time we were aiming for!
That never happens with us!!!

Why did we leave so early?
Because there was a storm that was supposed to roll
in later that evening, and we wanted to be
long gone by the time that happened.

Everything was blanketed in white and
so peaceful and beautiful.
I really didn't want to leave,
but we had to get home because people
had plans, and I had only rented our car until Weds.

We ended up getting home around 4 or 5 PM,
so the entire day was spent driving.
I slept through most of the ride home,
but I did happen to wake up in Weed, CA.
It was perfect timing because
Mt. Shasta looked beautiful.

It was such a nice relaxing little vacation,
and I really enjoyed seeing everyone
laughing, playing and having a good time.
It was a perfect way to end 2015!

Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

I can't believe the holidays are over!
I really can't believe I have to go back to work tomorrow.
It's been a time to rest, relax and recharge.
Getting to spend 10 awesome days with
my family was a total bonus.

We spent Christmas Eve at a
 seafood Chinese buffet.

There were smiles all around.
Even Austin, who doesn't care for seafood
enjoyed all the options the buffet afforded.

After dinner, we headed home to wait for Santa.
He didn't disappoint.

Christmas Day arrived,
and everyone had something under the tree,
even the puppies.

Cole was thrilled with his new puppy jacket...
can you tell?

I wore my special Christmas
Elfie Selfie sweater.
Isn't it cute?
It even has a sequined cap.

After we finished opening gifts,
cleaned up the aftermath and got ready,
we headed to Todd's dad's house.

We took several pictures and visited
while Anne was busy making brunch and dinner.

I had to get pictures with my
beautiful daughter,

and handsome son.

We played Pictionary (or something like it),
ate dinner, and then took our yearly
family portrait.

And like that, Christmas was over.

How was your Christmas?
