Cabela's

Back in December, Todd received a
gift card to Cabela's for Christmas.
A few weekends ago we didn't have anything planned,
and the card was burning a hole in Todd's pocket,
so we decided to make the hour trip to go shopping.

I had never been to a Cabela's before,
and everyone kept telling me I needed to go,
so I was really excited to see what all the hype was about.

We ended up going to the Cabela's near Reno, NV.
I have to say, first impressions...
this place is massive!
I knew right away that I would like the store
because it had a really cool sculpture at its entrance.
Yes, that is how I judge stores.
I do judge a book by its cover!

Once I entered the store, I was immediately overwhelmed.
I had no idea where to start.
Should I look at housewares, clothes, guns, camping gear...?

So I looked at the animals first.
It was like visiting a zoo, but the animals were really still.

We ended up shopping for about 4 hours
until Todd and I were both so exhausted
we couldn't take it anymore.

We fueled up in their little café.
And what did Todd end up buying you ask?
Nothing.
What did I get?
What else is a girl supposed to get when she
goes to a sporting goods store...

Fudge!
And it was awesome.

Have you ever visited Cabela's?
What was your favorite department?

Guess What Time It Is?

It's time for a cuteness explosion!

Okay, do you think this is a squirrel or a rabbit?
You're right...
squirrel!
Don't you just want to squeeze his fat, cute, little body?

40 Years of Portraits

The Brown sisters started taking portraits in 1975.
Nicholas Nixon, the photographer,
has photographed the sisters every year since then.
Nixon's wife actually happens to be one of the ladies in the portrait,
although I'm not sure which one.

I don't know why, but I found the photographs
both beautiful and sad at the same time
because the photos prove what we already know to be true.
None of us will be here forever.

Spring Break 2015

The kids came home for their Spring Break.
They were here for a week, and that week didn't
coincide with either one of our Spring Breaks (Todd's & mine).
So we decided to take Friday and the weekend
and make the most of it.

First thing I did when the kiddos arrived was take
them to get their favorites...blended coffee drinks.

We then headed to Tahoe for the night.
We did  a lot of eating and relaxing,
but we did manage to get a couple little short
excursions in and some nice pictures to go with them.

We decided to drive through some little towns
that we don't usually take the time to visit.
Our first stop was Fallen Leaf Lake area.

Glen Alpine Falls

We didn't do much hiking because the parking areas
were right next to the sites that we wanted to see.

Even though you didn't have to work hard
to get to the actual waterfall,
it was still pretty awesome.

The kids enjoyed hopping around from rock to rock.

I enjoyed photobombing them!
I know...what a child.

Look at my handsome kids.

Such little cuties.

After the waterfall, we drove up the road about
half a mile and came to a little alpine lake.
I'm not remembering the name,
but it was so picturesque.

Does it get any better than this?

We goofed around for about 1/2 hour,
and then decided to be on our way.

We ended up stopping in Tahoe City,
but for whatever reason, I didn't get any pictures.
I could swear that I took some,
but they aren't on my camera.
Hmmm, old age sucks!

AND
because we were on vacation,
we indulged a little bit.

Lexxa enjoying her milkshake.

We also went out to eat.

Okay, seriously, does Austin look like me?
and

does Lexx look like Todd?

This was a debate we had throughout our little trip.
I kept saying that Lexx could be Todd's twin,
and Austin looks like me.
Some in the family disagree.
Thoughts?

Our trip didn't last long,
just a two days and a night,
but we had fun spending time together.
We are all so busy with work and school
that it was nice to be able to just wind down
and enjoy each others company.

Do you have any plans to get away at Spring Break?
