Getting Stuff Done

We are slowly but surely making progress
towards the first terrace of our front yard.
It it quite a task because this is what we are dealing with.

Yep, it pretty much looks like a jungle.
This is the view away from our house.

Lots of bramble to deal with.

This is the view towards the driveway.

Admittedly, Todd did most of the work,
but he did have a little helper.
(Right after this picture. Thor got a bath and a haircut).

After Todd worked all day, this is what the yard looked like.

Compare this to picture number three.

And here is the "mostly finished" picture.

We just have the bramble in the left corner of the picture
to finish clearing.  After that Todd will probably jump
on the backhoe and do his thing.
Rest assured I will keep you updated.

A Little TLC

Our yard has been in some desperate need of some TLC.
When we were researching tier materials,
we picked up some clean dirt (oxymoron?)
for our planters and flower beds.

Todd in his element.
He loves places like this.

Here comes our dirt.

Look at our happy toad.
Lot's of new dirt to sit in.

Isn't it amazing what a little TLC does.

Project Outdoor Restore (Revamp, Redo)

Todd and I did follow through on the project that we had planned
to attack this weekend.
Well, actually, we didn't really DO the project,
we really sat down and planned a project...a BIG project.
What is it you ask?
See if you can figure out what we are doing.

Any guesses?
That's right, we are planning to tier our "front" yard.
We own acres, so it isn't feasible to tier all of it,
but we are wanting to do the front part that goes
down to a roughed in road.
Everything past the road will remain wild, wild, wild.
Everything before the road....landscaped.
Are we looking to do this all this year,
not a chance.

Todd and I went and looked at and priced materials.
It will be one tier a year for the next five years.
Yep...gotta have goals right!

We went to our local landscaping company,
then we went to Home Depot.
Surprisingly, the little mom and pop landscape shops custom materials
ended up being the same price as Home Depot's retaining wall bricks.
So it looks like we are going custom.

We were so jazzed when we got home,
we went up to Todd's office and AutoCaded
(is that a word) the project.

Don't mind the dust, his office is out in the garage.

Us trying to figure out the slope of the land
and how it will look against our house.

I'm super excited to see how far we get on the project this year.
Hopefully it will not remain in the planning stages,
and we will actually start moving on it in the next couple months.
You can rest assured I'll keep you updated.

So, do you have any big expensive projects planned in the near future?

Wootee, Woot, Woot

It's Friday!
Todd and I have big plans around the house this weekend.
I don't want to spill the beans just in case we flake.
If we follow through, I'll give you the deets on Monday or Tuesday.

In other news, I just heard this song and wanted to share.
I'll warn you ahead of time, I love Pink!
Mix Pink's gravely voice with her edge and its a win with me.
I'm not as fond of the male singers voice,
but they harmonize really well.
You listen and see what you think.

Pretty Cars

As you could probably tell from the pictures that I posted on Monday,
Todd and I went to a car show right down the road from our house.

I've been to a few in my life, the largest one being in Sacramento,
but it was kind of fun to have one basically in our backyard.

Hot Rods at the Hiney (Hiney being short for Hindquarter House)
had a pretty impressive showing with something like 75 cars/bikes.

Keep in mind that there are less than a
1,000 people that live in my town.

I pretty much know nothing about cars, but I do know what I like.
I thought some of the cars were outstanding,
but I'll shut up now and show you some pictures,
and you can see what you think.

Looks pretty fast.

I think this guy was my favorite in the show.

OR...maybe him.

Todd sure seemed to like this blue beauty.

Model T I'm guessing....
How did I come to this conclusion?

Just a guess.
Of course, I guess it could be the first initial of the
guys last name who rebuilt the car.

This was another one of my favorites.
Why?

Take a look at this back.
Yep, you could see through it.
How AWESOME is that!

I really like this because it showed the state that the present
owner bought the car in, and how much it was fixed up.
Yes, that is tons and tons of rust.

Here's the engine to the car above.

Here's the actual car.

Here's a picture of the inside.
Immaculate!

This wins best prize for the funniest car.

This was the cars description.

This is what it looks like.

This was just a corner of the show.

I gave you a little sampling of what was there.
So what was your favorite?

Happy Friday

I'm doing the weekend happy dance!
It's been a looooooong week.
We don't have any special plans this weekend,
so maybe I'll get something accomplished.
OR
Maybe not!
Have a great one.

Free Stuff

Do you like free stuff?
Me too!
I was reading one of the blogs I follow one day,
and they mentioned the site BzzAgent.comBzzAgent.com.
What is BzzAgent you ask?
It is a a word-of-mouth marketing company.
You become a BzzAgent, take surveys and test products,
then you blog about your experience.
You don't get paid, and you don't pay to join BzzAgent.com.
You share your honest opinion about the products or services,
and the more you talk about the products, the more campaigns
they invite you to join.

I joined BzzAgent about a month ago,
and I was super excited to get my first campaign.
Let me be honest & upfront, I love Lysol products to begin with,
so chances were good that I was going to like this product.

It comes in this cute little bottle, and the hand pump
turns the soap in to foam.

The scent I was given was creamy vanilla orchid,
and can I tell you that I can't stop sniffing my hands...
weird I know.
I just can't help it because it smells so yummy.
It also makes my hands feel soft and moisturized.
Win, win, win.

I tried to get a picture of how foamy the soap is,
but do you understand how hard it is to pump soap,
focus the lens and take a picture...not super easy guys (and gals).

This was supposed to be another attempt at the foamy goodness,
but by the time I got the camera situation under control,
the foam kind of deflated.

I really like this product.
Would I recommend it, yes.
Anything that smells delicious, kills 99.9% of bacteria, and is economical
(I believe it is under $5, but you can look it up on
Google if you are interested in purchasing it),
I am all over that.

Have you tried any free products lately?
Do you have any products that I should know about and try?

Note:  I was given a free sample of the Lysol Touch of Foam Hand wash to review.
All opinions are my own.

Toe Tapping

I heard this song on my way home from work,
and I couldn't help but tap my toes and sing along with it.
I like it.

Choose Chico

As you might have noticed from my photo challenge pictures -
week 4- we were in Chico.
CSU, Chico had a Choose Chico day,
and so the kiddo wanted to go check it out.
We rolled in to town around 10:30 AM, and ended leaving around 6 PM.
It was a pretty long day, but it was fun and informative.

Little miss has been accepted to both Sac State and Chico,
and she is exploring all her options.

Hopefully this college experience goes a little smoother than
CSU, Monterey (she had a roommate from he!!).
I'm excited for her and can't wait to see what she decides.
